In Penang, Pasembur is an Indian-Muslim dish. This dish is made up of the various ingredients and spices used by the Indian community but with the added uniqueness of ingredients from other cultures like beansprouts, sengkuan & Chinese hard taufoo. In our book, a good Pasembur must have a great dressing sauce and fresh, crispy cucur udang (prawn fritters). Pasembur outside of Penang is often known as rojak, another misnomer for the Penangite where rojak is a different dish!
1) Roadside stall at the junction of Union Street & Lebuh Pantai, in front of the old Standard Chartered Bank building(10.30 am to about 4 pm. Closed on Sundays). We feel this stall is superior to the many Pasembur stalls found all over our small island, including the much-hyped-about stalls in Persiaran Gurney!
